Thursday Thoughts- 08.30.12

Whoa- posting two days in a row. Normalcy?  Nah- just dumb luck. It just so happens that I have a random mish-mosh of junk in my brain and what a better way to spew it forth than with a little random Thursday Thoughts with Sar action.

One of the reasons I have been so meh the past two weeks is because this is the first year that I'm not going back to school in 17.  And I'm sad.  I excel at school.  I'm good at school. School and I are like best buds.  But in all honesty, someone said, "You're struggling with this because school is your comfort place and you don't have that anymore." Shot. to. the. heart. But yes, so don't mind me, I'll just be the girl crying in the Target Back-to-School Aisle.

I'm addicted to Mission Sun-Dried Tomato and Basil wraps. I've been making burritos this week as an easy dinner and my gosh, they are so good. I'm still doing gluten/sugar free as much as possible but y'all, sometimes ya gotta cave.  Gluten free bread has just not been making me happy lately.  I have tons frozen but it just doesn't has been as good as I'd like.  So I figure that the occasional wrap is better than a big roll, or much more processed type of bread.  And it's just so tasty.

Tomorrow is my last day at my job. I've been here as a student for 3 years, and working full-time in the summer for 2 years.  We've shared so many moments and hugs and laughter and jokes. My heart just hurts to think of saying good-bye.  Luckily, I live within 10 minutes of here and WILL be coming back for lunches and to see everyone.  But walking in for one last time tomorrow is definitely going to be hard.

Aaron and I are going to the pool this weekend.  We know going to the beach would be stupid but I NEED some last weekend summer fun.  And I need to get a bit more color before it all drains away.

I went to make peach crisp last night only to learn that the peaches had all gone bad. So no peach crisp for me.  But luckily Aaron's family has a compost pile so the peaches won't just be thrown out.  They'll be re-purposed.

My mama is having surgery on her foot tomorrow.  She'll be at home (working) for 8 weeks! Please say a little prayer for her that she a) gets through the surgery well b) heals well and c) doesn't kill my dad during the recuperation stage.

Next week is my first week of newness. And it's going to be weird. I work part of the day on Labor Day, part of the day Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday.  And hopefully! I'll hear back that I got my other job!  So we'll see.  But what I'm foreseeing- more time to blog, more time to sleep, and hopefully more love and light and laughter coming my way.

  1. Oh my gosh! I'll be thinking of your mom.

Ditto about crying in the back-to-school aisle, and yet I'm still in school. It's more like losing your youth, you know?! Damnit, we have to be adults...
