Day 3- The Clothes

So I'm 3 for 3. It's a victory.  And I'll be back later with a review of one of the great blogs that I read & will be sponsoring this month. But for right now, it's all about the 15 Day Challenge.

Here's the prompt for the day.
Tell us about an article of clothing you're attached to.

I've been struggling all morning with this one. And I've come to the conclusion that I don't have any articles of clothing that I'm specifically attached to.  I have clothing that bring up good or bad memories but nothing that really is a huge part of my life.  BUT...

I do have jewelry and other items that I'm attached to.
-Like the pearl Pandora ring that my mom got me for my college graduation
-The coffee mug earrings that Aaron bought me at the Apple Harvest Festival
-The graduation necklace from my friend in Texas
-My purple fleece blanket that travelled to Africa with me and I still sleep with every night.

I also can't help but thinking of this one shirt that I just recently got rid of.  I wasn't attached to it in the sense of wanting to wear it or finding comfort in it.  In fact, I couldn't wear it but refused to get rid of it for awhile because it was cute and should be something I would wear. But I wouldn't wear it because the last time I had, it was the day my dog died. And I never could forget that.  So in a way, my memory was attached to that.

So yeah-this prompt was tricky.  I have clothes that take me to my happiest times (vacations, graduations, first dates) but they don't hold meaning like other pieces in my life.

Can't wait to read about all of your items!

  1. Funny how memories like that (even the sad ones) stick with the article of clothing. I have a few of those as well.

  2. I forgot all about jewelry! I have a "LOVE" ring Christopher got me that is my favorite piece of jewelry, by far.

  3. I forgot about all my jewelry and shoes that I'd pretty much obsessed with. That's an entirely new post in itself.

  4. I definitely understand getting attached to jewelry--I still keep even some broken pieces that my grandparents or parents gave me for different occasions--I'm sure I'll find a way to fix or reuse them somehow, but I can't part with them!

  5. I initially only thought of jewelry too! I have lots of meaningful jewelry but it took a bit of thinking before I came up with a shirt.

  6. I think what I love most about this prompt is how much it got me to thinking of all the memories that are attached to certain clothing items. I've heard about how a certain scent can take you back to a memory, I never realized clothes can do the same!

  7. Jewellery! Why Didn't I think of that! That's a brilliant choice...and it sort of counts as clothing right?
